"I will see the rainbow and remember my promise to every living being on earth."
Publication Date: July 25, 2016
This year's 2016-17 school theme will be based upon the life of Noah, a man of faith. Noah learned many things as he prepared the ark and rode out the great flood. Many of his peers felt he was foolish. However, Noah was a great believer. He challenges us to withstand peer pressure—many of our choices are made so we will fit in with others, to please them or avoid their criticism. Noah teaches us about commitment, the need to determine in our hearts to please God, whether we please others or not.
Noah also challenged us to persistence. It took Noah 12 years to build the ark. Noah teaches us it is more difficult to remain committed to tasks that we must faithfully perform for years before we derive any benefits. During the year we will be using Coach John Wooden's Pyramid of Success from his book Inch and Miles…the Journey to Success. As we climb the pyramid we will be learning about the importance of Hard Work, Friendship, Loyalty, Cooperation, Enthusiasm, Self-Control, Alertness, Action, Determination, Fitness, Skill, Team Spirit, Poise, Confidence and Personal Best Effort which must be performed faithfully for best results!
Thanks to Noah's faith and persistence, in the ark he was preserved from the waters of the flood and was deposited in a fresh new world, the new earth—Christ's Kingdom. A Kingdom we are charged to protect and preserve.
During the 2016-17 school year, the Cathedral Parish Community will remain in His Ark of Safety. We will be committed to finding God's own reflection in each of us, and allowing His grace to work through us as we make our way on our journey to success, transforming our family, our school, our workplace and the world around us. Remember, everyone ... "We're All In The Same Boat!"
In the Spirit,
Kathy Boice, Principal
