Melody Ott received a BSW and MSW in Clinical Social Work from Florida State University. She has maintained a license in Clinical Social Work with the State of Florida since 2000. For over 20 years she has worked with children, adolescents, and families in a variety of settings. She has served as the School Counselor at Cathedral Parish School for seven years and also maintains a private psychotherapy practice locally. She enjoys working one on one with students to address a variety of social, emotional, and academic issues. In addition, she works with small groups to address issues such as: organization, divorce, loss, and study skills. Each month, Mrs. Ott shares classroom lessons with the students on a variety of topics including: bullying, communication, healthy relationships, building self-confidence, stress management, making positive choices, and so much more. She has been a group fitness instructor for over 15 years and enjoys bringing her love of fitness to the students throughout the year with such activities as children’s yoga and kid’s Zumba. Mrs. Ott enjoys continuing her professional development with a focus on brain development research and cognitive behavioral therapy practices. She is certified as a Dialectical Behavior Therapist and is a Clinical Hypnotherapist in the State of Florida.
Mrs. Ott serves as the Student Council Co-Sponsor, Catholic School’s Week Chairperson, Organizational 101 Co-Teacher, ITBS Testing Coordinator, and Peace Week Coordinator. In addition, Mrs. Ott enjoys giving tours to potential families, working with parents, and helping out wherever she is needed.
Mrs. Ott has been married to her husband, Bryan Ott, for 17 years. Together they have three wonderful children: Dillon, who attends St. Joseph Academy, Cody, and Abigail, who both attend Cathedral Parish School. Her family is actively involved at St. Anastasia Catholic Church where her husband serves as a Deacon, her children Altar serve, and she volunteers with the youth ministry program and Vacation Bible School.
