A Message from our Principal
Mrs. Katherine Boice
Welcome to Cathedral Parish School
Cathedral Parish School has a proud tradition that dates back over 100 years to our Founders, the Sisters of St. Joseph. The Sisters of St. Joseph have educated our young and often our adults since 1859. We are located in the heart of the historic city of St. Augustine. We continue to interact with the Sisters of St. Joseph to this day and share their excitement, dedication and love for learning with our students.
Faith, Service and Academic Excellence
The Catholic community of Cathedral Parish School strive to be examples of Christian teaching. Serving others as Jesus would and achieving academic excellence by ensuring students make the most of the gifts God has provided. Many charities have benefited from our support: Catholic Charities, St. Francis House, Wounded Warriors and many more.
Our professional educators pursue inquiry and discovery through an inter-disciplinary approach to learning and cross-grade level activities to encourage leadership and growth within our students. Although Cathedral Parish School has not yet been designated officially as a STEM School, we offer many STEM activities throughout all grade levels.
Access and Affordability
A Catholic Education is attainable for all in today’s world. Application for financial Aid through our FACTS Tuition Plan will be considered. Opportunities for scholarships through the state corporate scholarship program, Step-Up-for-Students, may be pursued by families with financial need, as well. Cathedral Parish School’s ability to reach all students with special needs is unfortunately, not an option. However, Cathedral Parish School is able to help students needing only minor accommodations. Should you qualify for admission, you may also be eligible for the McKay Scholarship, and students with individual education plans (IEP’s) are encouraged to pursue this option.
Dynamic and Diverse Community
All are Welcome at Cathedral Parish School. Our school serves 275 students. Approximately 15% of our school population is non-Catholic. All Classroom Teachers are certified and degreed in the area they teach in Grades VPK (4-year-old) through 8th Grade. We are blessed to have professional enrichment teachers on staff degreed and/or certified in their area of instruction (P.E., library, Media, Art, Music, Spanish and Drama). Graduates of Cathedral Parish School are revered by our local schools. They come to their school settings with excellent values, a strong work ethic and strong academics. Cathedral Parish School has earned the recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School in 2007 and continues to maintain Achievement Test Scores in the top 10-15% of the nation.
The Cathedral Parish School is easily identified by its beautiful Spanish Architecture. Our school and Parish organizes and plans the Cathedral Parish Festival the last weekend in February on the historic grounds of the Shrine in downtown St. Augustine. This is a HUGE event and is enjoyed by the entire city of St. Augustine. This is an annual event and has been a part of St. Augustine history for over 30 years. Our school reaches out to our business community, friends and alumni through our annual Legacy Campaign. We are so very grateful to our sponsors for helping us to maintain the integrity and beauty of our school campus and programs.
In The Spirit,
Kathy Boice, Principal
